Thanksgiving

Near Vellan Head, Lizard Peninsula

We have plenty to be thankful for. We could be living in Liechtenstein.

Not only is Lichtenstein doubly landlocked, according to Wikipedia:

    Area
    Total 160.4 km²
    Water (%) negligible

    Not good for paddling :-(

All news reports about Ellen McArthur begin like this:
    “Ellen McArthur, from Landlocked, Derbyshire…..”

Me: “Goodness, I’m from Derbyshire, and I’m not sure I’ve heard of that village, it must be up towards Sheffield or something.”

When I’m a millionaire, I’m going to build a new village in Derbyshire and name it “Landlocked”, so I don’t feel so stupid.

I think I’ll keep up my lifelong policy of avoiding Liechtenstein at all costs.

Helen, your post made me spill my tea laughing.

About

Over the past eighteen months I have researched, photographed and written a sea kayaking guide to the South West of England; from the Bristol Channel to the Isle of Wight. I have been using this blog to keep folk updated as to my progress and to reveal some of the wonderful scenery, culture and wildlife of this little corner of England.
