Reef, Lothian, Scotland

I felt very clever today – I solved a niggling problem. Although I’m planning on devoting the full six weeks of my summer holiday to getting up the West Coast of Scotland, I have one other commitment; I have to be back in work for a single day, midway through the holiday. That means travelling all the way from wherever-I’ll-be in Scotland to Dorset and back in as little time as possible (and you can guarantee the time that I’m away from the boat will be the best weather of the summer).

Anyway, I booked super-cheap flights from Glasgow Airport to home – result! Only later on did I discover that Ryanair have a liberal interpretation of ‘Glasgow’ … the airport they use is somewhere else entirely …

  1. Yes. I discovered this when I flew back from Scotland for a day in the middle of our trip a couple of years ago. Not to bad with a car, but without…

  2. Mark, I live very near ) to Prestwick Airport(about 5 miles. There is an excellent rail service from Glasgow Central to the airport that is actually better than the link to the main Glasgow airport. But if you are nearby and need a lift from the water to Airport and back or somewhere to store your boat/gear- Drop me an email and I will help if I can. Tony

  3. Thanks Tony, I may contact you nearer the time.
