Sea Kayaking in South West England

Clovelly is a unique village in north Devon, its cobbled high street so steep that donkey-harnessed sleds were used to transport goods from the small harbour. Keep careful hold of your icecream.

During 2006-8 I researched, photographed and wrote 'South West Sea Kayaking', a detailed guide to the coasts and islands of South West England; from the Bristol Channel to the Isle of Wight.
'Savage Shores: Britain's Coastal Environment' is the working title of the book currently being researched and written by my wife Heather and myself for Pesda Press. The book aims to explain the climate, geology, landforms, natural history and human history of the coastal environment to walkers, sea kayakers and others enjoying this wonderful part of Britain's natural heritage.
This blog is intended to keep you up to date with our progress and adventures in working on the book.

Don’t try driving to Clovelly, you have to park at the top of the village, which is fair enough, but you’re then forced to take a very expensive bus ride.
There was no option to walk in!
My book has a few strong words about the top of the village …

I shall go and read the relevant section.
So far I’ve concentrated on the Dorset and South Devon sections of your book.
By the way your book has motivated me to join my local clubs trip to Old Harry Rocks.
I assume people live in Clovelly? They have to go through a theme park to get to their homes?
Clovelly is a lovely place even if you have to park at the top of the village.. don’t take a bus, walk on foot down the pebble path , that’s the best way how to spent nice day.. by the way – bus doesn’t allow you to see waterfall, touch ocean, and try seafoods cause it can not drive in the area where village starts
