This fellow at Flamborough Head in Yorkshire is easily the best six foot tall wooden carved gannet that we’ve ever seen.
Sadly, he was alone; we were too late in the season for the 1000s of gannets who usually live nearby at Bempton Cliffs.

About this blog
'South West Sea Kayaking' is the title of a guidebook I researched, photographed and wrote in 2007-8. The guidebook covers the incredible South West coast from the Isle of Wight to the Severn Estuary. An updated Second Edition was published in 2011.- My wife and I are currently working on a number of projects; a guide to Britain's coastal environment, provisionally entitled 'Savage Shores', part of an upcoming guidebook to Britain's South East coast and an update to a whitewater guidebook to England. We both regularly write and photograph for magazines and other publications.
- This blog is simply a record of adventures and experiences along the way.
